Bintan Police Chief, AKBP Boy Herlambang through Babhinkabtimas Toapaya Village, Brigadier, Agung Nuzul conveyed the direction of the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) related to forest fires.
"We urge citizens not to burn rubbish carelessly. Because this fire has become the attention of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Jokowi, "said Agung, met in one of the locations of fire hazard socialization on KM 17 Marine Tourism Road, South Toapaya Village, Wednesday (07/08/2019).
In the socialization, Agung said several important points to prevent fires. First, if the land has been cleared do not burn. Because fire can seep to other locations and cause widespread fires.
Then, if he burns trash he asks to wait until the fire goes out.
"Usually, people want to hurry up and then burn. No, because later on if the fire spreads, there are laws. So the point is, there must be no more land fires, "said Agung.
Meanwhile, the chairman of RW 03, South Toapaya Village, Adi Sumardi who was present at the socialization appreciated the police's steps in preventing forest fires.
"As RW chiefs, we greatly appreciate the steps taken by the police. Hopefully with this socialization, in the future there will be no more forest or burning land. Because the smoke is indeed very disturbing, "he said.
Adi said, this message from the police will be passed on to residents. So that all people in the working area can understand and there are no more fires.
"So far the people may not even understand if there are laws related to this fire. And hope, hopefully our community understands because we will continue, "he concluded. (Ndn)
