The Center for Volcano-logy of Mitigation and Geological Disasters,
or PVMBG, states that a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that shook the Sumur region,
Banten, so far has not affected the condition of the Krakatau Mountain
Children.
"So far it has not affected volcanic activity in the
surrounding areas, including Gunung Anak Krakatau," said the Head of
PVMBG, Kasbani, in Jakarta, Friday night, August 2, 2019.
Kasbani reassured that the Anak Krakatau Mountain was in a
safe condition, even though there had been an earthquake shaking in Banten
region.
Based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and
Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter was located at coordinates 104.58 °
East and 7.54 ° South Latitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers, 137 km southwest
of Sumur, Banten, at 19.03.21 WIB.
